This course will teach you fundamental technical and creative tools to help you create stunning photographs with your DSLR camera. It is aimed at beginners who usually shoot in ‘Auto’ but would like to begin to use priority modes and improve their creative compositions.Everybody learns differently, so you will have the opportunity to develop your skills through both theory and practice (weather permitting). The day will be fun and interactive, with a small group size (4-8 students) to ensure you receive one-to-one tuition time.

Myth-busting Digital photography
You will learn about exposure and become confident in priority modes
Manual and autofocus
Exposure and metering
Histogram review
Aperture and depth of field
Shutter speed and motion
ISO and noise
You will develop a toolkit of techniques to compose creative images
Rule of thirds

Leading lines
Framing
Filling the frame
Foreground interest
We will provide you with some resources to support your photography beyond the course
My approach to photography
Avoid wasting money on photography gear
You will need to bring your own Digital Camera (DSLR, Mirrorless or Camera with Manual Settings)
Bring along your camera along with fully charged batteries and memory cards
NO previous experience is required, however you must be 18+ years old to attend the course.
We will NOT cover post-production editing as this requires its own separate course.
Food is NOT provided, however we will have a lunch break where you can visit nearby restaurants/cafes
Birmingham is well known for sunshine, however please also bring a raincoat just incase …
