Thank you for your interest in attending the 6-week Beginner's Knitting Class being run at Hataitai Community Centre. In the workshop you will learn the basics of the craft of knitting.
Your facilitator will be Stella Peg Carruthers, a textile craft artist and eco-lifestylist who sees crafts as being a way to affect positive change in the world as a creative gesture against apathy.
Her practice is centered around sustainable materials re-use and slow creativity processes.
She is also interested in creating supportive community workshops that mirror the history of sewing in social spaces.
DATES: 27 September - 1 November 2025
TIME: Saturdays 2-4pm
PLACE: Hataitai Community House, 112 Waipapa Road, Hataitai
Basic materials will be provided including an initial pair of knitting needles and a ball of yarn to practice with. More detail about what to bring will come in an email closer to the date of the first workshop.
