Looking to learn a new skill? Discover how to whittle on this 2 hour workshop where you'll create a woodland animal to showcase your new talents.
In this workshop you'll learn the art of making animal shapes with delicate knife movements - all while enjoying cosy chats around a campfire
Places are limited to 6 so pre-booking is essential.
Embrace your wild side - what to expect:
This event is suitable for children aged 16 and over. Young people aged 18 and under need to have parental consent before attending. If you are a parent or guardian that would like to attend with the young person, please get in touch with the event organiser.
Where to meet
The event lead will met you in the car park then walk to the whittling location, a short walk into the reserve.
A ccessibility
Paths are flat but surfaced with gravel. We advise sturdy footwear with strong soles. There are two parking bays for disabled people who find walking difficult in the heart of the reserve (further instructions in confirmation email once booked). Trails are surfaced and the hides are accessible for wheelchairs and buggies.
What to bring/wear
Our events take place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! This is an outdoor event, so layer up! Do bring along a flash of warm drinks and food to keep you sustained.
Toilets and catering
Please be aware that there are no toilet or catering facilities available at Ripon City Wetlands.
Parking
Parking is free at Ripon City Wetlands.
Directions
The nature reserve is just south of the B6265 east of Ripon. From A61 in Ripon head east on the B6265 towards Boroughbridge and the A1.
After 1.1km turn right into the entrance, signed Ripon City Wetlands and Ripon Racecourse. After 150m, bear left into the car park for the nature reserve.
If arriving from the A1, follow the B6265 for around 6km, until you cross over the River Ure. Take the first left turn (after 150m) into the entrance.
The entrance has two large YWT signs marking it. Follow the track leading from the southwest corner of the car park to enter the reserve.
