Are you interested in exploring the great outdoors, sleeping under the stars, and embarking on a backpacking adventure? If so, you’ve come to the right place! Our two-part course is designed for beginners who want to learn the basics of backpacking and wild camping.
Part 1: Zoom Meeting
The first part of the course is a Zoom meeting where you will learn the fundamentals of backpacking and wild camping. Our experienced instructors will cover the following topics:
Gear: We will discuss the essential gear you need for a successful backpacking trip. This includes items such as a tent, sleeping bag, backpack, and cooking equipment.
Food and Water: We will discuss the importance of proper nutrition and hydration while backpacking, and go over different meal and water filtration options.
Navigation: We will cover basic navigation skills, including how to use a map and compass.
Leave No Trace: We will discuss the principles of Leave No Trace and how to minimize your impact on the environment.
Safety: We will cover safety considerations, including wildlife safety and emergency preparedness.
Part 2: In-Person Two-Day Hike
The second part of the course is an in-person two-day hike where you will put your newly acquired skills to the test! Our instructors will lead the group on a beginner-friendly hike, providing guidance and support along the way. You will have the opportunity to practice setting up a tent, filtering water, cooking meals, and navigating the trail.
