Beginner’s Acrylic Painting DaySunday 8th March
Hartlepool Art Gallery 10am – 3pm
We’ll start by learning the basics of colour theory, including the colour wheel and how to mix your own colours with confidence.
From there, we’ll explore simple textures, mark-making, and playful techniques to help you loosen up and enjoy the process.
In the afternoon, you’ll bring everything together to create your own acrylic painting on canvas, guided step by step.
This is also a communal day — we’ll share a bring-your-own lunch, with everyone contributing a little something (olives, hummus, bread, salad, flapjacks… anything you fancy). A lovely way to connect, create, and enjoy good company.
Bring an apron or old shirt if you wish!

Who am I? I'm Emily Carter, a fulltime artist and a qualified teacher of Art, Design and Photography for the past 17 years. I was born and bred in Yorkshire and have lived in Hartlepool for the past 20 years and went to the Northern School of Art!
I have a love of colour and natural forms, creating bespoke canvases of abstract forms, I create spirit and energy paintings and have a love of plants and the world around us.
