Join us for our Beginner Workshop, an unforgettable opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of bonsai while exploring our beautiful bonsai nursery. Whether you're a seasoned plant enthusiast or a complete beginner, this workshop offers the perfect chance to discover the art of bonsai in a relaxed and welcoming setting.Guided by bonsai artist Alex Stanford of Florida Bonsai, Jacksonville's oldest bonsai nursery, you'll learn the essential skills and techniques for styling your very own bonsai tree. No prior experience or tools are required—just bring your enthusiasm and creativity!
We’ll be working with tropical species, which are easy to care for (even if you have a busy schedule). After a brief introduction to the history and fundamentals of bonsai, you'll get hands-on experience potting, pruning, and styling your tree. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own personalized bonsai tree to nurture for years to come!
Beware of knock-off beginner workshops teaching poor practices. We do not repot Juniper or Gardenia in the summer because it is harmful to the tree and many die soon after. We hate to see beginners disappointed because it ultimately hurts the art of bonsai. If you have been disappointed by another beginner experience please reach out to us for free guidance, encouragement and a discount to get you back on track to enjoying bonsai. It's not your fault!
Space is limited, so be sure to secure your tickets early! Tickets cost $75 and are non-refundable reservations. Rescheduling for a beginner workshop on a different day requires a $25 rescheduling fee.
This workshop is hosted outdoors under cover, rain or shine.
