About this Event
This class will provide a combination of demonstrations and hands on instruction enabling you to build a small, lidded treasure box that will make a wonderful gift for someone special in your life. The box features hard woods joined with miters corners, lined at the bottom with velvet. The bottom, itself, features aromatic cedar.
Students in the class will be introduced to the safe use of various woodworking machines, including the table saw and router, as well as various basic woodworking processes and design.
This class is beginner focused and participants are not expected to have prior knowledge of woodworking. The course is open to participants age 16 and over (participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult also enrolled in the class).
Note: There is a lunch break in the middle of this class. Participants are welcome to bring a lunch and hang out at the makerspace, or we'll happily suggest our favorite local dining options.
FAQ:
Should I bring anything with me to class? Everything you'll need to complete the projects will be provided including any nescesary safety equipment. If you have safety glasses or hearing protection you prefer to wear, please feel free to bring them along. (Safety glasses must meet ANSI Z87 standards (most do).)
Can I bring my own wood to use? We'll supply all the wood you'll use to complete your box.
What should I wear ? Plan to wear comfortable clothing that you're prepared to get dirty. Avoid loose-fitting clothing and dangling jewelry such as neck chains or bracelets. Shoes should be closed-toed (no sandals or flip-flops). Any long hair should be tied back.
I have a question that's not answered here. Can you help me? Of course, just send us an email at [email protected]!
