What to expect at The Beginner’s Sourdough Workshop:
Join Chill Spice in a four (4) hour workshop where you’ll learn all about making sourdough bread!
We’ll teach you how to make a loaf of sourdough, feed and maintain a sourdough starter, explain fermentation basics, and show you how to shape the dough. We'll cover the entire process, from start to finish.
You'll learn:
· Sourdough Starter:
· Understand what a sourdough starter is and how to maintain it.
· Fermentation and Proofing: Discover how these processes improve your bread's texture and flavor.
· Shaping and Scoring: See how to shape boule(round loaf) and score it for your desired look.
· Dough Strengthening: Learn tips to build dough tension during bulk fermentation.
What to bring to class:
· A digital food scale
· If you don’t have one I will bring a few to purchase at class
For baking the day after class:
Make sure you have high quality parchment paper and some sort of pot with a lid that you can bake your bread in the next day.
A round cast iron Dutch oven 6 quart or larger or aluminum roaster pan will both work well.
These links will take you to my amazon page and give me a small commission which doesn’t affect your cost. Thanks for your support. =)
This is an awesome one from Amazon. It’s only $35. Plus it’s lightweight, non-stick and bakes beautiful sourdough bread!! It’s my new favorite pan!
Make sure to get the medium size.

If the Granite stone pan is out of stock this 28 cm pan is also a great lightweight option

Another wonderful option is this cast iron combo cooker

You can use also a cast iron Dutch oven if you have one. A 6 quart or larger is ideal. A 5 quart will work but your dough might be a little squished.
(Please note that you DON’T need to bring the parchment paper and baking pot to class.)
We will talk about the the sourdough mindset and snack on sourdough bread and sourdough chocolate chip cookies+ other snacks.
You will take home:
