Would you like to have a go at dancing the historical dances of the Regency era? Follow in the footsteps of Jane Austen, with dances known to Mr Darcy, Mr Bingley and The Miss Bennets at the Netherfield Ball. Bring out your inner Bridgerton. The Arbeau Dancers are holding a beginners taster session of dances typical of a Regency Ball or gathering. This two/three hour event gives an opportunity to dance in the beautiful Picture Gallery at Temple Newsam House, Leeds and will be on Saturday 18th May from 11:‪00 - 14‬:00.
No experience or partner is needed and it's suitable for all abilities and ages from 16+. Full instructions will be given, starting from very basics to get everyone dancing.
All you need are comfortable clothes you can move in and flat, soft soled shoes. We will be in full Regency costume and will demonstrate some dances too.
The session cost £9.50 and covers entry to the house. Booking is essential.
To book or if you have any questions please contact us at [email protected].
The Arbeau Dancers are dancers in residence at Temple Newsam House and rehearse there most Saturday mornings. We have performed at numerous prestigious historic venues around the country, with a repertoire that spans more than 500 years from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries
