Beginner Raks Assaya (cane dance) Combos Raks Assaya class will be all about learning to dance with the "assaya" or stick, which is often danced to the "Saidi" rhythm. "Saidi" means from Upper Egypt. This is one of the most popular Egyptian folkloric dances and it is commonly called Raqs Al Assaya, which means "stick dance".
In this class we will begin with a little history, warm up, then practice drills to become comfortable with the assaya, followed by combinations that are commonly used with Raqs Al Assaya. There will be canes available to borrow in the studio along with a little tutorial on how to make your own assaya. Prepare yourself for a fun interactive dance!!!
All levels of dancers are welcome and encouraged to come join in the revelry and comfortable yoga like attire is suggested!
Classes can be purchased on the mindbody app under Yoga at The Massage Center Studio!
