Are you a Make Nashville member?
Do you wish that you knew the basics about the pottery wheel?
Would you like to gain basic knowledge about the beginning stages of throwing a form on the wheel?
This 2 week/2 session class will teach you the basics of throwing a form on the pottery wheel. Students will learn basic techniques such as centering, opening a form, pulling walls, collaring, shaping a form, proper storage and evaluating proper drying, along with wet and "typical trimming".
Students are encouraged to practice the techniques taught in class on their own time at the studio. Students are encouraged to rent a shelf at Make to store their work.
Students are required to bring their own clay to class. Approximately 5 lbs each class is recommended. Clay can be purchased at Make Nashville or cone 6 clay can be purchased from an outside source. Outside Clay must be approved by the instructor. Students can utilize Make Nashville tools if they do not own any.
