Bom dia! 🎉🎉🎉We would like to invite you to a very special four-week course, where we introduce you to the fiery, intoxicating world of Lambada!
Borne from a mix of Brazilian folk and popular dances on the beaches of Pará, Brazil in the 1970s, it enjoyed a brief and intense period of worldwide popularity in the 1980s-90s, becoming immortalised in songs such as Kaoma's "Lambada" (1989). It was the precursor to Brazilian Zouk and is making a comeback in our communities over the past few years. This is the right time to get on the bandwagon!
This will be a four-week course where we will take you through:
- The basic steps
- Soltinho – a foundational circular movement structure
- Chicote – the characteristic explosive hair "whip"
- Boneca – “ragdoll” – everyone’s favourite lambada movement!
There will be a little bit of something for everyone! Don't worry if you have not danced Brazilian Zouk before: whilst some dance experience is always advantageous, it is not necessary (as we're starting a new dance from scratch)
