Beginner DJ Workshop with Xochii

✨ Feeling lost and overwhelemed when trying to learn on your own?

✨ Looking for a queer/trans, Black and brown centered space to learn?

Join Long Beach DJ, Xochii de la Noche at Pieter Performance Space in Los Angeles for a fun, interactive, and beginner-friendly event where you can learn the art and fundamentals of DJing!

This workshop is perfect if you have never tried DJing before, or if you are looking for guidance on the fundamentals of DJing in a group setting.

We will cover:

• An introductory overview of working a DJ controller

• Beat matching and using EQ levels to transition from one song to the next
• How to pick and find songs
• How to load your songs into Rekordbox to play

We will end the last hour with open decks to try out the skills you learned, ask any questions, and a chance to get to know your classmates learning with you!

Bring a brand new USB drive, your laptop with Rekordbox downloaded, 5 - 10 songs you want to play with downloaded, and patience for learning a new skill.

This is a Black and brown, fat-positive, s3x-worker positive, queer and trans centered space! Allies are welcome, but please respect the space.

About Xochii de la Noche:

Xochii is a Long Beach based DJ bringing play and pleasure to the dance floor. Xochii is known for dropping infectious beats and rhythms, multigenerational dance classics, and Latin heat! They’re inspired by her Mexican and Salvadoran afro-indigenous roots, her parents’ stories of dancing all over Los Angeles in the 80’s and 90’s, the Southern California rave scene, and all the unapologetically queer ancestors before her transmuting pain into joy. Xochii’s always got you with a sweaty dance paradise from sun up to sun down... Or sun down to sun up.

Xochii also Casita de la Noche, a production and media house decolonizing and reclaiming play, pleasure, and joy through art and media for queer and trans BIPOC.
