There are plenty bird species around so you can get your bird photography fix and winter bird photography can be extremely rewarding. Coming home with great images after going out on a shoot is exhilarating and the ideas presented in this class will help you achieve your goals as a bird photographer. There’s no need to travel out-of-state to get images of birds you will treasure!
This course is geared toward the beginning bird photographer with general knowledge of aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
The class will cover:
– How to stay warmer while shooting in the cold and how protect your gear
– Potential settings
– Finding good backgrounds
– Determining shooting angles taking into account lighting and composition
– Waiting for the right moment
– Hints for finding birding locations locallyKathryn will provide specific examples from images she has taken in the past on how to increase your number of keepers.
About the Instructor: Kathryn Cubert has been photographing birds at every opportunity in a full range of weather conditions for over eight years. She has also been a Hog Island Audubon bird photography instructor in Maine for the past three years. Kathryn has exhibited her imagery at the McConnell Arts Center, the Ohio State Fair Fine Art Exhibit and the Riffe Gallery.Her photos have been published by Audubon.org, NANPA (the North American Nature Photographer’s Association), Bird Watchers Digest, Columbus Monthly, local conservation organizations - the Arc of Appalachia and Appalachia Ohio Alliance. She is a current member of Westbridge Camera Club, BSBO (Black Swamp Bird Observatory) and Columbus Audubon.
