About this Event
In this class, you'll embark on a new journey of musicality, connection, and expression as you explore the fundamentals of Bachata dancing in a safe and welcoming dance community.
Originating in the Dominican Republic Bachata can be characterized as energetic, sexy, and rhythmic. The dance is typically performed to the rhythms of bachata music, which features a fusion of Afro-Caribbean beats, guitar melodies, and heartfelt lyrics, and has experienced a recent surge in popularity!
Whether you're completely new to dancing or have some experience in other dance styles, our beginner class is designed to be fun, welcoming, and accessible to anyone. Our highly experienced instructors, Joel and Lucia, teach a fun combination to a catchy new Bachata song each week. Each class begins with a warm-up where we repeat the basic steps of Bachata. Then we go into partner work where the instructors guide you through a fun and easy Bachata routine where we focus on leading and following techniques with a partner. Our instructors will guide you through proper hand placement, connection, and communication on the dance floor.
Come comfortable and ready to dance. We don't have a specific dress-code. Feel free to wear something you feel confident in. Tennis shoes or proper latin dance shoes are recommended. No need to bring a partner, as we rotate partners throughout class. Parking lot is available in the front and in the back as well.
