Two Different Workshops (one beginner level and one advanced level) with Matariki Mushrooms. The Beginner’s Workshop (9:30 am – 1 pm, $90pp) is perfect for newcomers eager to grow gourmet mushrooms at home. Participants will learn about fungi ecology, their contribution to food security, and create a personal grow kit to take home, enabling them to enjoy their first harvest in weeks.
The Advanced Workshop (1:45 – 5 pm, $110pp) caters to those with prior experience, excluding basic concepts, to focus on advanced cultivation techniques. Attendees will inoculate logs with a native shiitake strain, prepare dowels for future projects, and practice cloning fungi, particularly Pekepeke-kiore (native lion’s mane). Participants will leave with an inoculated log and a jar of culture.
