Befriending Our Bodies

A seasonal embodiment workshop to practice turning toward our bodies with friendly attention and allowing inner wisdom guide us to wellbeing
About this Event

Throughout the day, our bodies are constantly receiving information about our environment and trying to communicate to us about our needs. Learning to listen to our bodies can be a lifelong practice. This workshop series is an invitation to turn toward our bodies with friendly attention and practice opening to the inner wisdom that can guide us toward wellbeing.

This workshop series draws on embodiment practices and Polyvagal Theory to explore how being aware of our bodies can support our health, mood, digestion, and attention to self-care. Whether you are new to embodiment practice or are looking to expand or refresh your current practice, this workshop will encourage a space for curious somatic exploration and the opportunity for deep nervous system nourishment.

Join Julia Hollenberg, Registered Dietitian & Yoga Teacher, and Jess Jarris, Somatic Psychotherapist & Yoga Therapist for the fall workshop: the focus is grounding, and how we can support a sense of safety as life changes around us.

Our time together will include:

• Experiential practices to invite body awareness

• Short somatic tools that you can use throughout your day

• Personal reflections and group discussion

• An extended practice, including mindful movement, restorative yoga and breath practice to encourage the soothing and centering of your nervous system.

Please note this is a size-inclusive, anti-diet environment. No yoga experience is necessary. We will be sitting on the floor and will have props such as blankets, bolsters and blocks available to aid in comfortable sitting. If you desire a chair, please let us know.

COVID considerations: Please complete an at-home test the morning of the workshop. We facilitators will not be wearing masks and mats will be fairly close. You are welcome to wear a mask.
