About this Event

Did you know that the flame of a beeswax candle is as close to pure sunlight as you can get? Learn how to make three different kinds of beautiful beeswax candles: rolled sheets, dipped tapers, and poured mould candles. All participants will take home candles made in class. Program price includes all materials.

About Oliver Coutu

Oliver Couto is one of the Co-Chairs of the Toronto Beekeepers Collective and one of the instructors of introductory beekeeping courses at the Kortright Center and the Toronto Botanical Garden. He is producer of The Sacred Bee film series that gently unites the world's religions through the paradigm of the honeybee. He practices Apitherapy; the ancient branch of beekeeping to do with the health benefits of the products of the hive. He is owner of The Bee Shop located in Toronto's west end and has been a beekeeper for 20 years.

Safe Program Access

To ensure the safety of our participants and instructors, all staff, volunteers, and participants will be required to wear masks indoors and and maintain physical distancing.

All participants must show proof of vaccination to attend an indoor program at the Toronto Botanical Garden.

You must have received the second vaccine dose at least 14 days before your program. You can present either a paper or digital copy of your vaccination receipt, along with valid ID that includes your name and date of birth.

You will also be asked to complete a mandatory paperless COVID-19 Self-Assessment prior to your participation. Please review our Health and Safety Policies and Refund Policy and Terms of Agreement.

This is an Adult Education program at TBG. All participants must be 16+.
