About this Event
Living Traditions Festival 2024 History of European Lager Brewing presented by Bohemian Brewery.
From Weissbier to Pilsener, and Viennese to Kölsch, join us with our host Bohemian Brewery as you discover the history and story of central European Lager brewing from the 1200s through the present day. Your class host, Kelly Schaefer, will guide you through tasting five beers – all brewed locally by Bohemian Brewery – and discover the origins of beer from the “land of Bohemia.”
Topics included include Ales vs. Lager beers, a brief history of the evolution of brewing techniques, how agriculture influenced the spread and growth of specific styles, the “Reinheitsgebot” (Germain Purity Law of 1516), the emergence of modern Pilsner lagers, and the current landscape of brewing and the craft beer revolution of the past ~30 years in North America (and abroad).
