What: Craft beer has become Ballarat's golden allure, and this course will help provide your staff with the knowledge and expertise to deliver the best craft beer experience for your customers.
Staff who participate in this bootcamp will walk away with a better understanding of the important aspects of beer service and handling, as well as a thorough understanding of the characteristics, history and production of a range of different beer styles.
Local hospitality guru and owner of several Ballarat hospitality venues, Brian Taylor, has teamed up with Certified Cicerone brewing professor Dr Pete Aldred, and Certified Beer Server, Aunty Jacks head brewer Matt Ives, to design and deliver this short course.
The course will cover:
- Brewing process basics
- Assessing beers: flavour, taste, and aroma
- Intro to beer styles and translating beer style parameters (ABV, IBUs, SRM/EBC)
- Malts and hops
- Common off-flavours
- Draught/beer keg knowledge, system maintenance and hygiene
- Proper glassware and pouring techniques
Cost: Free for staff of Tourism Midwest Victoria Industry Partner businesses*. This course is valued up to $350 per staff member.
How to register: Follow the prompts and select the number of staff you wish to register. Maximum of six (6) staff per business. Spaces are limited.
