Join us as we explore how aroma and taste combine to make what we perceive as flavor.
About this Event

The interplay of taste and smell significantly affects how our brains perceive flavor. The common perception is that our tongue is the main facilitator of all things culinary, but it’s only when we take the time to breathe in the aroma that we can fully tap into the flavor.

In this class we will discuss the components and techniques for evaluating beer, variations in taste perception, how to articulate flavors commonly found in beer and identify their source. We will also try our hands at some sensory exercises to test out our skills at identifying common aromas when we don’t have any visual clues.

The class will be led by Alewife co-owner and Certified Cicerone®, Kelly Pickard. Cost to attend is $25 and includes educational presentation, handouts, and a guided tasting. All class attendees must present ID showing they are 21+ years old.
