We're bringing the German tradition of beer poking to Owensboro for one special evening supporting the Kentucky Guild of Brewers and their members! Join us in the Brew Bridge beer garden Friday, Dec. 12th at 6pm for $4 1/2 pour specials, beer poking, and cigars. Beer poking is the German tradition of heating a red-hot metal rod and plunging it into a cold beer to caramelize its sugars, creating a warm, frothy head and adding smoky, toasty flavors (perfect for cold winter nights)! Originating in 17th-century Germany, this practice is now a popular event at many breweries, best performed with malty beers like Bocks or Doppelbocks. It is also known as Bierstacheln in German, which means "beer spiking." $4 pours will get you half a mug of delicious dark beer which will be poked to create a nice caramelization! This event is also BYOC (bring your own cigars). Come support the Kentucky Guild of Brewers while also enjoying some delicious beer!
