Courtney Brummel and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Bee Lab will be offering a program called Bee Yoga. This is a unique, nature-inspired, wellness experience designed to help participants find peace, calm, and mindfulness through the gentle art of yoga and the healing power of bees. Just as bees play a vital role in pollinating plants, Bee Yoga aims to "pollinate peace" by fostering inner balance and connecting individuals to nature’s rhythms. Through guided yoga poses, mindful breathing, and the presence of live honey bees, this workshop offers participants an opportunity to calm their minds, reduce stress, and cultivate a sense of serenity that they can carry into their daily lives.

Cost: $20 per person, with proceeds supporting bee conservation research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, dedicated to saving bee populations and advancing environmental sustainability. Cash or check only; bring to the event.

During Bee Yoga, participants will have the opportunity to:
>Discover new mindfulness techniques through yoga poses and breathing exercises, helping them develop a deeper sense of awareness and presence in their daily lives.
>Interact with live honey bees in a controlled, safe setting, learning about their behavior and their calming presence. They’ll explore how the natural rhythm of bees can enhance their mindfulness practice.
>Foster social connections in a communal space where participants can share their experiences, connect with like-minded individuals, and build relationships rooted in wellness and mindfulness.

>Mindfulness and Yoga: Breathing techniques, intentional movement, and poses to reduce stress and cultivate balance.
>Connection with Nature: Interacting with live honey bees to experience the calming influence of nature's rhythms.
>Community and Social Connection: Fostering shared experiences and social bonding through mindfulness and wellness practices.
>Healing Power of Bees: Learning how bees promote balance and peace, and using their energy to reduce stress and enhance well-being.
***Please bring: closed-toed shoes, pants, water, yoga mat or large towel (if you don’t want to be directly in the grass)

University of Nebraska Lincoln Pollinator Garden and Outdoor Classroom
(north of Holdrege St & 48th St. Must enter via north west: East Campus Loop then Fair St)
*please note, there are no buildings here and the only bathroom is a porta john.
Expectations upon arrival:
>UNL Bee Lab will provide bee suits and all beekeeping protective equipment
>UNL Bee Lab will conduct introductions and a safety brief. We will have required safety waivers to enter the bee yard
Parking is gravel and the bee yard has an incline, so please let us know if you have any physical limitations so we can plan accordingly.
