Becoming WholeThe connective power of Feldenkrais

In this 3-part workshop, we will explore the ways in which we can better support ourselves and our movement through the integration of global patterns into our daily gestures and activities. How does my shoulder work together with my ribs as I reach for my cup of coffee? How does my pelvis support my spine in the same movement? What do my eyes do? What about my toes? How can my breathing work as a marker of ease and freedom in my movement?
We live in a culture that tends to create an idea of separation of ourselves into parts: we seek one doctor for a knee, another doctor for the neck, another doctor for our eyes. Through the work of Awareness Through Movement, we can experience once again the feeling of moving as a whole, with different parts supporting each other in an integrated and graceful movement. This has important consequences for our physical and emotional well-being, the quality of our days and of our performance in more specialised movement.

About the teacher:
Luiza Moraes is a performance and dance artist currently based in Budapest. With an extensively interdisciplinary trajectory, she has had extensive training in modern and contemporary dance with special focus on somatic practices. Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, she obtained a BA in History and became an active member in the local performing arts community. Since 2011 she has lived in Europe, where she obtained an MA in contemporary dance and choreography from CNDC/Angers and the University Paris 8.
