For the first time in Singapore, we are proud to present you a
ONE OF A KIND culture mash up exhibition that combines the rich history of American and Japanese culture in an unprecedented way that will leave you in awe.
For the longest time we have always associated sneakers and fast food strongly towards American culture and how they transcended this lifestyle towards the human race around the world. The Japanese however, have become a pure connoisseur of the true Americana movement themselves and managed to elevate it into a pure artform that has gained the respect of many through the test of time.
Hence we would like to introduce “Because Hot Dog” & “JunAle Sashiko” both who respectively represent the mix of culture very well with their midas touch. Because Hot Dog was founded by Ando Takashi who is an avid lover of all things Hot Dog, which started in his high school days and ever since then he has eaten numerous kinds of Hot Dog from Japan, America and Hawaii.
ABOUT BECAUSE HOTDOG
An incident happened to Ando-san in 2018 that made him find out that he is actually allergic to Gluten and he had to change his dietary plans to Gluten-free from there on. So for someone who loves hotdog but has to look after his dietary health, he then decided to make his own gluten-free buns and non-preservatives Hot Dogs so that everyone who has a similar condition could continue to enjoy this delicacy without worries.
ABOUT JUNALE
JunAle on the other hand was founded by Sugimae Jun who has a deep love for sneakers in general. He loved how each brand and silhouette looked and gave function to his everyday life. As time goes by, each shoe deteriorates and he was always thinking of ways to salvage them or to prolong their lifeline longer in terms of aesthetics and look. Hence he picked up the art of Sashiko which is a Japanese embroidery technique that was used since the Edo period, which the farmers used to mend their worn clothing. So with this technique at hand, he was able to give a new life to his worn sneakers and gave it a different characteristics from before. It is truly an art piece itself with every pair of shoes, JunAle meticulously stitches and embroiders the shoe with different threads and needles to create an out of this world product.
