This is the trip sponsored by Trout Unlimited and supported by The Daughters of the American Revolution. We'll be joined by other programs in the Northwest, and have boats and rowers provided by volunteer fishing guides.IF YOU ARE A PROGRAM PARTICIPANT OR VOLUNTEER INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THIS, PLEASE REACH OUT TO RICK DAVIDSON.
The lake is best fished with a 4-6wt rod and a sink tip or intermediate line (Type 3). If you have questions about the gear, let us know. If you need some gear, likewise let us know. And if you need help tying or procuring some flies, let us know.
Fly Recommendations:
• Olive Willy with red bead in size 12 2X or 14 2X
• Stillwater Nymphs by Denny Richards in size 10 or 12 1X or 2X weighted in dark olive with or without a burnt orange tail.
• Pumpkin Seeds size 14 1X with orange bead
• Carrie Specials in natural size 12 or 14.
• Alaska Leech in black with a pearl bead in size 8
• Wooley Buggers (black, brown, olive - beadhead and plain)
• Damselfly nymphs (olive)
• Leeches (semi-seal in black, brown, etc.)
• Pheasant tails
All flies should be fished on an intermediate line (like a Type 3) or sink tip at this event as the trout are not very deep.
Another option would be to fish chironomids (size 16 or 18) - but only if you have experience fishing them. This would be done with a floating line.
• Green and Red:
• Black (Zebra Emerger):
• Brown (Rusty Duck):
