Towering up to 9 feet high, the artist’s insect portraits provoke wonder and not a little awe. These images will set the table for a lunchtime conversation on the intersection of art, faith, and science, featuring Rick Lindroth, professor emeritus of ecology at University of Wisconsin-Madison and Distinguished Fellow for the Natural Sciences at the Lumen Center, and Cameron Anderson, visual artist and Distinguished Fellow for the Arts at the Lumen Center.
Our two distinguished speakers, a scientist and an artist, will bring their unique expertise and perspectives forward as two paths toward God and wonder. They will guide participants to ponder the beauty of the insect images in the exhibit and consider our personal connection with the natural world. In reflecting together on God’s deep love for the creation, we will be inspired to love it more deeply ourselves and better care for it every day.
Following our discussion of the “beauty of bugs,” attendees will have an opportunity to take an optional tour of the Paine’s extensive gardens. Overall, this experience elevates the ways the natural world reveals God’s endlessly creativity, as well as heightens our awareness of the world’s exquisite diversity.
