Ornamental Grasses

Saturday, February 11, 2023

9:30am-11:00am

Instructor: Robert Bowden

For nearly nonstop performance, strength, and visual impact, few plants compare to ornamental grasses. Unlike lawn or turfgrass varieties, ornamental grasses are meant to grow—not be cut or mown—and most are not used as ground covers. Once you start landscaping with ornamental grasses you will be amazed by how many varieties, sizes, shapes, and colors are available. Enjoy a class presented by Robert Bowden, recently retired Director of Leu Gardens, that will discuss selection and proper care of these beautiful plants.

Robert Bowden recently retired as Executive Director of Leu Gardens after nearly three decades. Earlier in his career he was the Executive Director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Director of Horticulture of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, and Assistant Director of Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island. He is the author of many books including Florida Fruit & Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles and the Florida Top Ten Garden Guide. He also teaches several horticulture classes in the Science Department at Valencia State College.

Participants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit.  If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit.

Only those registered for the class will be permitted in the classroom.  Childcare services are not provided.
