Nothing is quite as much fun as a Polar Bear swim/splash and dash...especially when it means we are doing it for beautiful clean oceans as part of International Coastal Cleanup Month...1pm Saturday 13 September 2025
(note the staggered start times)
This "World International Coastal Cleanup Month (Recycle week and cleanup week)" - Let's do something good - and the beneficiary is the Beautiful Oceans campaign
Officially the craziest/coolest/funnest/stupidest/most Vaalie/amazingly fun/maddest (like very mad) thing you've ever done this Spring
There is a 250m, 500m, 1km and 2km swim
Or
Swim/bob/tread water/stand(shoulders submerged) in Small Bay for (at least) 5 Cape Town minutes...
So anything between 5 and 20 minutes
Head must dip under water to qualify for the #bigbrainfreeze
Meet up at Small Bay in front of Onse Huisie
Register and get ready.
The 2km swim starts at 1pm
The 250m, 500, and 1km and any "bobbers" you head in to the water at 2pm
Wetsuits allowed…
Kiddy friendly...kids under 18 do not pay if accompanied by an adult
Less rushing, more enjoyment!
Hot chocolate afterwards sponsored by the amazing team from Rawson Properties Blouberg.
A little bit of common sense to prevail – obviously if you getting too cold – you get out.
Every participant will get a unique medal.
Done 100% at owners own risk.
Participants are also encouraged to bring something along that floats.
There will be some really cool lucky draws held at the Rawson gazebo at 2:45pm
How to enter:
Pre entries R100
On the day R150

On the day at the Rawson gazebo on the beach (R150)
Event will not be cancelled or moved/postponed unless there is lightning physically hitting the ocean or the water is above 27 Degrees.
