Dr. Joe Pagan shares feeding and management tips for horses training in hot climates. Guest speakers include Aaron Vale and Jimbo Gladwell.
About this Event

At this seminar Joe Pagan, Ph.D., founder and president of Kentucky Equine Research (KER), will present important information related to feeding and managing performance horses in hot environments. He will also share some exciting studies from the company’s Ocala research facilities that will help horsemen better understand how heat and humidity affect horses during exercise and which cooling methods help horses most quickly recover after exercise.

Joining Dr. Pagan will be two successful horsemen who have reached the top of their respective disciplines from year-round bases in Marion County. Aaron Vale is an international showjumper who owns Thinkslikeahorse, a full-service training facility in Williston, Florida, with his wife, Mallory. Jimbo Gladwell, a leading two-year-old Thoroughbred consignor, operates Top Line Sales with his wife, Torie. Using a question-and-answer format, Aaron and Jimbo will discuss how they successfully feed, manage, and compete their horses throughout the year in Marion County and provide insight into how they select and develop young horses to reach the highest levels of their respective sports.

This seminar is brought to you by KER and Ocala Breeders Feed & Supply (OBFS). KER is an international equine nutrition, research, and consultation company serving horse owners and the feed industry. The company’s goals are to advance the industry’s knowledge of equine nutrition and exercise physiology, apply that knowledge to produce healthier, more athletic horses, and support the nutritional care of all horses throughout their lives. OBFS is a division of Ocala Breeders Sales, which is entirely owned by professional horsemen in Florida. OBFS has operated its Medic*tion-free, equine-only feed mill in Ocala since 1982 and has two retail locations in Northwest Ocala. As a KER Balance Partner, OBFS uses KER’s formulation expertise to produce a range of horse feeds fortified with KER micronutrient packages that are tailored to meet the needs of breeding and performance horses in Florida.
