Anah aka Hoopalicious has been a Hoop Dance performer, teacher and pioneer for the last 25 years. Named by many as “the mother of modern hoop dance”, she loves nothing more than to introduce others to the magic circle that has been a source of inspiration, healing, self-expression and FUN in her life. Whether you are just starting out, have never hooped before, or are a seasoned hooper, you will surely be lit up by her workshop.
Bring a hoop if you have a favorite or you can use one of Anah’s hoops. Space is limited! First come, first served!

Live DJ : 7:25-9:05p: Illusion of Duality
Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/the-illusion-of-duality
The Illusion of Duality can be found somewhere in between the Bass & the Treble… This alchemical artist has been on a musical journey since birth to truly re-discover his sound. Born & raised on the west coast playing strings, percussion & keys, The Illusion of Duality honed his craft on the decks far before electronic music was popular in the early 2000’s. With the use of frequency embedded in a universe of rhythm he navigates between the Darkness & the Light to bridge the gap between electronic and organic. On the dance floor, his worldly sound will guide you on an ever evolving adventure of downtempo bass, medicine house and pure vibes sure to lead you “home”. Beyond the good or the evil, to a place where we are all ONE.

Guidelines
-VOICES on the dance floor: The dance floor is a talk-free zone. This allows dancers to engage in movement as a meditation, to go within, and to be more embodied without distraction in proximity.
-VOICES off the dance floor: We have created a tea lounge and chill space off the dance floor and quiet voices are encouraged in order to engage with others in a different way when you're not dancing.
-SHOELESS: We ask that you are shoeless in the space. If you have a physical reason to wear shoes, you are welcome to - we simply ask that they are not shoes you wear on the street.
-RESPECT: Be respectful of yourself, of others, and of the space/venue.
-PHONES: the dance floor and chill spaces are phone free zones. This allows dancers to be present fully.
Beat Church was started in San Francisco in the early 2000s by the amazing DJ, Neptune, who saw a need for a new cutting edge underground dance offering.
We want to continue and build on that tradition here in Asheville for the existing vibrant dance community.
