Have you ever wondered where chocolate comes from – or even what it takes to make a single bar of chocolate? We have, so we’ve invited local chocolatier and owner of Blind Cat Chocolate, Anne Giuliano, for an afternoon odyssey into the world of chocolate. Anne will present a historical overview of cacao, how the modern style of chocolate bars developed in Europe and the U.S. in the 1800s, and how Anne makes her chocolate, sharing her sources and insight into the current cacao industry, and how she created her own business to support cat rescue organizations. Join us after the presentation for a chance to purchase gift-worthy bars of Blind Cat Chocolate and as Anne says, “Eat chocolate, save cats!”Meet the Chocolate Maker: Hello, I am Anne Giuliano, balancing roles as a chocolate maker during the day and a physician by night. Operating Blind Cat Chocolate is my passion project. Back in 2022, while vacationing on Kauai with my husband, I discovered the world of craft chocolate. A cacao farm tour with a chocolate tasting completely changed my perspective on dark chocolate. The rich flavor of well-crafted, small-batch chocolate captivated me. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into a business. The unmatched taste experience of quality chocolate is something I urge you to explore by trying a bar yourself. Blind Cat Chocolate pays tribute to my beloved cat, Xel, who lived fearlessly despite losing her eyes to an infection as a kitten. The mission behind Blind Cat Chocolate is to create delectable craft chocolate to support cat rescue organizations. Our commitment lies in using ethically sourced ingredients and eco-friendly packaging.
