About this Event
WHY?
Because of: feedback, experience and shared lived experience of the Trust Leeds Self-Reliant Group members; we've designed a SRG Day Camp specifically for people with autism and/or ADHD..
- who are considering self-employment
- who want to articulate and test their business idea (using the straightforward ‘business plan on a page’ Business Model Canvas template)
- who are up for experiencing a 'Self-Reliant Group' in a day, and then have the option to join our free 12-week online programme in the company of other people who are also exploring self-employment (Mondays 11am-1.30pm, from 21.09.24 to 16.12.24). See more information below.
WHAT WILL WE DO ON THE Be Your Own Boss DAY CAMP?
The main purpose for the day is help you to get your buisness plan down on one page. We will use the Business Model Canvas. We will look at each of 9 different elements you need to consider when planning or developing your business. I've copied below an example of a basic template. If you'd like to learn more before you come, there are lots of videos and guides: but I'm designing the day so we can go through the basics gently together. You don't need to do any preparation at all. And if you do some research beforehand please don't worry if you don't understand it - we will make it straightforward and manageable.
PLANNING
Please see the Agenda and Frequently Asked Questions section for more information such as facilitators – and we have some requests for you, below.
Please phone Nikki on 07830 251138 if you have any questions.
Photos of the entrance and foyer are copied below, and if you’d like video directions (from the Sainsbury’s in Dortmund Square – the barrel man!) then please e-mail [email protected]. Sarah (one of our Facilitators) will be waiting by the Barrel Man in Dortmund Square on the Headrow at 9am sharp– please go and meet here there if you’d like to walk into the workshop with someone.
Our workshop is taking place in a calm space with a breakout area available the whole day for people to use whenever needed. It has full disabled access. We’ll be working in one room, in three groups around tables, with a screen on the wall that everyone can see. I’ve structured the day to include time for individual reflection and group work – and you can leave and come back at any time, for any reason.
A light vegan lunch will be provided of soup and a roll (gluten free available)
REQUESTS FROM US
In true Self-Reliant Group style we ask as many of you as possible to bring along homemade cakes or biscuits to share – and request that everyone manages their own dietary/allergy needs themselves.
Please could you also tell us how we could help make your day with us easier or more manageable, and we’ll try to accommodate this wherever we can, or at least tell you if we can’t!.
Trust Leeds is working to understand different ways that being in a Self-Reliant Group helps, please would you fill in our quick questionnaire at the booking stage on Eventbrite, or a friendlier version of this questionnaire is available online here: https://liza396868.typeform.com/to/fGLYWhK8
WHAT IS THE ‘BE YOUR OWN BOSS SRG' PROGRAMME?
The workshop on Saturday 14th September is for one-day to get your started,so if you'd like to continue to develop your business idea, we'd love you to join our 12-week Be Your Own Boss online programme, starting 16th September.
Please see below for the programme's advert - and chat to us on the day for more information and an enrolment form.
It’s an online Self-Reliant Group, supported by Trust Leeds, to think through the personal, financial, and operational considerations of becoming self-employed, and to have the key features of a business plan in place. It is designed for people who are unemployed, under-employed or low-waged. Some members join with a strong idea for their business, others know they want to work for themselves but haven’t decided on what to do yet. After 12 weekly meetings, members continue to meet and support each other, usually face-to-face. These monthly meetings of our ‘Be Your Own Boss Business Coffee Club’ are places where budding business people can learn, network and share challenges and victories.
