Boreal Waters Community Foundation, Head of the Lakes United Way, and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits have partnered to bring the Northland a unique opportunity to learn more about nonprofit board service.
Join this engaging training program to build your knowledge, confidence, and skills as a nonprofit board member. Whether you’re new to board service or looking to strengthen your impact, this program will help you develop a strong foundation for effective leadership.

Info: Gain a clear, practical understanding of what it means to serve on a nonprofit board and the impact you can make in your community. In this session, Kelly LaCore from Minnesota Council of Nonprofits will walk through essential responsibilities, key considerations, and real-world insights to help you feel confident stepping into board service.

Info: Get an additional inside look at nonprofit leadership from those doing the work every day. Day two, you'll hear from another panel bringing together experienced leaders to sharing insights, answering your questions, and offering honest perspectives you won’t find in a textbook.

Legal and HR
Info: Understand the legal and HR responsibilities that come with nonprofit board service—and how to navigate them with confidence. In this session, Cam Kruger from That Nonprofit Guy will break down key concepts like fiduciary duties, compliance, and oversight of executive leadership. You’ll leave with practical knowledge to help protect your organization and lead responsibly.

You’ll leave with meaningful insights and practical ways to help create more welcoming and inclusive boards and organizations.
