Ever wonder what people used as makeup hundreds of years ago? How did the Egyptians get their eyes lined so finely without modern twist-up pencils? How did the Elizabethans get their lips so brightly colored red? This vividly imaged presentation will take a whimsical look at some of the history of makeup, touching on Egypt, ancient Greece, Asia, and medieval Europe. Baton Rouge Community College History Dept. Associate Professor Lisa Namikas will look at practices and habits used by both men and women to do what they thought would make themselves look better, show who they were in society, and be more confident.
