About this Event
Please note this is a lunchtime lecture
Presented by Lynda Holt - Honorary Professor of Social Leadership
School of Health & Society, University Of Salford
Come to this lecture to discuss the impact of being braver, of not being afraid to be different, to challenge the status quo, to push for change, to take the lead, in order to ensure positive health and wellbeing, both at work and away from it.
Workplace culture has a profound effect on wellbeing, staff retention,& productivity, yet most people think that it’s someone else’s problem
We need to be braver about how we show up, about the people and things that matter to us, and most importantly, about how we treat each other.
It’s often easier to accept what is and to fit in, but your future self pays the price.
Culture belongs to those within it, the most junior to the most senior, the youngest to the oldest member, we all shape it. It’s not enough to lead how you wanted to be led, we, collectively and individually, need to learn from the past and look to the future.
What if people could bring their authentic self and their unique talents to work, and still feel respected, valued and part of something. Imagine how much happier, and more connected we would be and how much healthier our organisations, health systems and societies would be to work in.
It takes guts to connect, to stay emotionally agile, and to have the sometimes difficult conversations that enable us to understand each other, to lead well, and to evolve workplace culture so that it doesn’t harm those within it.
During this lecture we’ll consider how being braver, embracing our humanity, and being deeply connected to what we do is the only feasible future for service workplaces, like health and social care, education, and the emergency services.
