The Catherine McAuley Cup is both an individual and team-based event. Students in Years 4-6 (optional for year 4 students) make their way around a 1.3km track, some students elect to run and some elect to walk. The track winds through the CMS-PPS campus, around the outside perimeter of the school and back into the courtyard – where students cross the finish line in front of the R-4 students who eagerly cheer on their peers. The track has a number of checkpoints marshalled by school staff and checked by the groundsman before the race. The first female and male students to finish each receive the coveted Catherine McAuley Cup Champion trophy. Participating students are welcome to wear colours that reflect their Sports Day team.
Sports Expo
The Sports Expo is designed to give children a two-minute opportunity to showcase their sports skills with the school community watching on. All children are invited to participate individually, in pairs, or in teams. We envision a whole range of skills being demonstrated by our students e.g., basketball shooting, cheerleading, jump rope, juggling, martial arts routines, etc. We encourage the participants to bring along the relevant sports outfits to change into for the expo (e.g., basketball jerseys, football strips, cricket whites, etc.)
