About this Event
The BCLNA Spring Pruning Workshop is a full-day, hands-on training designed for landscape professionals looking to build confidence, consistency, and best practices when it comes to pruning. Whether you’re new to pruning or want to refresh your skills before the busy season, this workshop focuses on practical techniques you can apply immediately in the field.
Led by qualified, experienced instructors, the day begins with an orientation covering pruning fundamentals, safety, and standards, followed by guided, hands-on pruning practice outdoors. Participants will work through real-world scenarios, learning how to make effective pruning decisions that support plant health, structure, and long-term performance.
Topics Covered
- Selecting the right tool for the job
- When to prune and why timing matters
- Targeted pruning for plant health, structure, size, and form
- Industry standards and best practices (ANSI, CODIT, Canadian Landscape Standard)
- Safety, PPE, and injury prevention
- Basic tool care: sharpening, sanitation, and storage
What to Bring
Participants should dress for the weather and bring PPE, clean and sharp by-pass pruners, a handsaw, and their lunch.
