BALTIMORE COUNTY DELTA FOUNDATION PRESENTS BOOK EVENT TO RECOGNIZE 6888TH BATTALION AT WOMEN’S HISTORY PROGRAM
The Baltimore County Delta Foundation (BCDF) will recognize the historic contributions of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion at a Women’s History Month Program on Sunday, March 8, at 2:00 p.m. The program will feature a book talk and signing with Brenda Partridge Brown, author of “Echoes of a Little Brown Soldier Girl: A Daughter’s Journey through History,” which offers reflections on her mother, CPL Willie Belle Irvin Partridge, a member of the 6888th. The program will also include a salute to Maryland women who served in the noted 6888th Battalion, a predominantly Black, multi-ethnic unit of the U.S. Women’s Army Corps that managed postal services during World War II. The Battalion’s slogan was “No Mail, Low Morale.”
