About this Event
You'll get the VIP Experience at Pinkerton's Barbecue! Start off the class by meeting the pit masters and touring the pit room. We believe you'll best be able to appreciate the barbecue when you see it go from pit to platter!
Ben promises not to get too complex and will lead with the basics so you can feel confident snapping photos the next time you find yourself at Pinkerton's or elsewhere. He'll also have some handheld lights to demonstrate different types of lighting in your photos. Bring your camera, SD card, and a hearty appetite, because this class will end with a meal!
Space is extremely limited to ensure the best experience for attendees, so secure your spot early.
: Ben Yanto has been a photographer for almost 20 years. It started as a hobby when he bought his first DSLR camera and started snapping landscape photos. "My love for photography started as a kid: going to the school library and looking through the beautiful photos in National Geographic was my favorite thing to do''. He was soon introduced to the landscape of West Texas, specifically the beauty of Big Bend National Park, where he can be found shooting several times a year. When not at home in San Antonio, Ben spends his time traveling the back country roads throughout the state, capturing images of the Texas landscape, culture, and food, which have been featured in publications such as Texas Monthly, Texas Highways, and Rolling Stone Magazine.
From a young age, Grant Pinkerton was fascinated with meat, fire and old Texas traditions. Upon returning to Houston after college, he decided to turn his fascination into a career. What started out as a barbecue pit and a dream has grown into one of Texas’ best BBQ joints. He prides himself on the quality of his meat and his sides, all made daily from scratch. His restaurant serves variations of his family’s recipes as well as some of his own originals. Pinkerton, with no formal training, relentlessly pursued his dream and has been recognized on Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ Joints list, selected for the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 and won Memphis in May Beef Grand Champion in 2019. Pinkerton’s Barbecue has been featured on the Travel Channel, Food Network and Cooking Channel. In 2021, Pinkerton expanded, opening his second location in downtown San Antonio.
