Hi everyone, we are so excited to announce that we will be back at Musgrave Park on Sunday 7 July for our winter BBQ for the Homeless and Others in Need, and we hope to see many guests and volunteers there! You are all invited 🙂 With times being so insanely tough and unimaginably lean for many, and with the levels of homelessness unprecedentedly high, we are glad to be able to do what we do and make a little difference.
We will keep you posted as to the services, caterers etc that will join us. We are inviting everyone who is interested to come and volunteer and be a part of a truly special day. All you need to bring is your big welcoming smile, your warm, non-judgmental heart, a kind word, and the wish to make this a great day for each other and especially for people who probably don't have so many great days these days.
We have a wide variety of jobs for our volunteers, such as serving food and drinks, helping our guests find what they are looking for at the tables with donations, making them feel welcome, having a chat and a meal together. We also need a lot of hands to help us set up and pull down the event as there is a LOT to set up and pull down, so that we can kick off on time and leave the park in meticulous order after the event.
If you have children, please do bring them along. Children generally love helping out doing little jobs. They will learn and remember the gift of giving, and no one is too little to make a difference.
If you look to donate, we always need non perishable foods in big numbers, new underwear and toiletries (especially men's, no razor blades please) for our BBQs. Also blankets, beanies, towels. We will post what else we need in due course, so watch this space!
Whether as a guest or a volunteer, we are really looking forward to seeing you all there to spread some human warmth on a winter's day! People need to know they are still a part of our community, no matter what their circumstances.
