BBQ Benefit Cook Off for Jimmy Armstrong

After you picked up your Friday Boiled Shrimp Plate Lunch (https://bit.ly/shrimpplate), we are going to keep the fundraising going for Jimmy Armstrong through the weekend with a BBQ Benefit Cook Off at the outdoor grounds of the Pours Tavern on Polk Street in Houma, LA.
Teams are invited to participate for $125 and cook either chicken or ribs for 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize. To sign up your team, call the Pours Tavern at 985-746-5488.
Cooking starts at 7am. Guests can buy a $10 all you can eat BBQ plate at the gate. Serving will start at 11am. After you have enjoyed the food, the live music and the silent auction items, there will be a live auction at 2pm. As our bigger donated items are confirmed, we will post them here for your sneak peak!!
Jimmy is a Dularge resident who was recently diagnosed with an agressive and fast moving case of ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease). He is soon to be out of work fully and on a limited disability income that will not fully meet his medical or housing needs for him and his wife Pam of 40 years! He went from being the breadwinner of his family to unable to work in just 6 short months and incurring medical expenses that will soon be beyond what his insurance will cover for equipment, therapy and constant care. His wife Pam had to forgo her work income to stay home with him as his only caregiver since private or medical insurance doesn't cover for such things...for a condition that renders you unable to do any physical task for yourself. Go figure! But we are just starting to navigate this journey, so any and all advice from those who have walked a similar path is welcomed.
So come pass a good time with Jimmy and his family and friends as we celebrate him and encourage him on this arduous journey to fight ALS. We are hoping to give him the resources he needs to do it comfortably and successfully, where his lost wages and insurance coverage is lacking. We are standing in the gap with him.
