Stroke-related dementia (also known as vascular dementia) occurs when the brain is damaged from impaired blood flow. Due to stroke, cognitive functions like memory, thinking, and reasoning are disrupted. It’s the second most common form of dementia after Alzheimer's, and can develop after a single stroke or multiple, smaller strokes. While there’s no cure, treatments can help manage symptoms and potentially slow its progression.
