About this Event
Celebrate #NationalBatWeek with your littles! Join us for an engaging, hands-on workshop where we explore easy to lead activities focused on bats, spiders, and fall leaves.
Gear up for haunted happenings with educational activities focused on bats! These underappreciated forest friends provide educators an outstanding opportunity to connect scary and science in the fall season. During this workshop - we will learn about Nebraska's native bats, go on a sunset hike to view them (from a distance), and explore educational activities that you can use with your students to teach them about these important creatures during spooky season.
This workshop is occurring October 25th from 6:00-8:00 PM CST at Prairie Pines Nature Preserve, 3000-4498 N 112th St, Lincoln, NE 68527.
Participants will receive a copy of PLT Trees & Me curriculum, #NationalBatWeek materials, a certificate for 2 hours of in-service credit, and the background knowledge to implement these hands-on heads-on experiences in their work with youth right away!
is designed to provide opportunities for young children to experience nature, with a particular focus on trees and is an invitation to increase the quantity and quality of the experiences your children have with nature. It provides fun experiences to explore elements of nature, both indoors and outdoors.
Encourage early learners’ natural curiosity in nature and guide them in multi-disciplinary learning experiences! Project Learning Tree uses interdisciplinary curriculum to teach students how to think, not what to think, while using trees and forests as "windows to the world."

What Early Childhood Educators Say About Nebraska PLT Workshops I love that I am able to implement the curriculums into program so easily! I have what I need at my fingertips! It’s been fun to bring more nature into my classroom and the kids are eager to learn more and nature! Phenomenal trainings!
I learned different activities and ideas to implement activities in all areas of development and bring nature into my work with young children. The resources are very helpful. I recommend these workshops to other colleagues and friends!
I love going to the Nebraska PLT workshops and utilizing the curriculum because it enables me to get my students outside while learning. Every time I go to one of these workshops, I learn a new activity and ideas to share with my students, even after 21 years in education.
ABOUT THE CURRICULUM: Project Learning Tree® (PLT) provides educators with high-quality professional development, hands-on activities, and multi-disciplinary supplemental curriculum that can be easily integrated into lesson plans for all grades and subject areas to help teach youth about trees, forests, and the environment.
