“The Lostech Caves”
Butte Hold, Periphery Space
10 February 3027
The orbital drop on to Butte Hold did not go as planned. Redjack’s Pirate forces were waiting for the Affordable Atrocities. Additionally, the atmospheric conditions resulted in some ‘Mechs missing their mark when touching down. The result? Some ‘Mechs heavily damaged, one ‘Mech and pilot lost, and some APCs and AsTechs lost.
The good news is Affordable Atrocities made it past the Pirates and managed to rendezvous with the local resistance. They are currently hiding out in “The Lostech Caves” on Butte Hold after a lengthy march. Yeah, don’t get too excited there. These caves have been thoroughly explored and there is no Lostech to be found. Plenty of relatively dry and open space though hidden in a mountain range that, hopefully, Redjack Ryan won’t be bothered to try and explore.
The local resistance isn’t much. The leader is a fellow named Hayden Pascal. Seems genuine enough. Butte Hold is already a bit of a hellish planet to try and eek out a living on and Ryan has only made it more hellish for the locals. Don’t expect much assistance in a fight from them. This group is ragged looking and not well-equipped. Mostly weapons and equipment discarded or recovered from Ryan’s forces. The caves have plenty of room for our surviving ‘Mechs, equipment, and personnel though. Meanwhile, Pascal’s resistance can help with repairs and other logistics.
Ryan has to know we are here by now so he will have his eyes and ears peeled looking for us. Our first step to finding the SLDF cache is going to be to blind him. That means a raid on his lone airbase outside of his capital city, Raider’s Roost. We need to crash those airfields and destroy or damage as much of the buildings and aircraft before they know what hit them.
Oh, and Gary is fine by the way. Kind of shaken up. Witnessing an APC filled with AsTechs he hired and trained get dusted after landing changed hit him pretty hard. No booze on this trip though and the resistance has some awful tasting moonshine.
