Our outdoor commemoration of the battle which began settlement of Lake Monroe takes place February 6th and 7th, 2026 at the Sanford Museum near Fort Mellon Park in downtown Sanford. On February 6th we invite students and classes to reserve a timeslot and rotate around our encampment, examining different aspects of life on Florida's wartime frontier with our experienced educators. On February 7th the General Public is welcome to tour the camps of US Soldiers and Seminoles, talk to our living historians, ad learn why they fought over the rivers, swamps, and savannahs of Florida in the longest and most costly "Indian War" in US History! A reenactment of the Battle will take place at 2pm on Saturday. To register for our school day on February 6th, reach out by email, message the museum here on Facebook, or call 407-665-2489.
