About this Event
In conjunction with the 'Spirella Unbound' textile art exhibition at the Broadway Gallery, this one-off workshop gives you the opportunity to have a go at the fun and fascinating art of batik, drawing with hot wax resist on fabric. Working with motifs from fabric used in Spirella garments, you will create a decorative and colourful panel. We will draw out a design using traditional batik tools, then add colour with fabric paints. Time permitting, we will also look at a couple of batik effects using more wax and more colour!
You will take home your finished panel and you may then choose to add further embellishment, make a cushion cover etc or pop it into a picture frame.

Suitable for beginners. Open to adults and children over 12 years of age if accompanied by an adult
All equipment and materials provided. Old clothes recommended!
The Broadway Gallery is located in the heart of Letchworth's town centre, just a short walk from the train station and within the historic shopping arcade just off Ley's Avenue. If you are travelling by car there are numerous car parks located throughout the town centre that are easily accessible
