About this Event

Join us for a Batik Wall Art Decor Workshop at The Urban Fox Bar Cheltenham! In this hands-on workshop, you'll create your own unique piece of Batik wall art to take home. You'll be guided on how to make patterns of your desire with hot wax using a tool called "canting" and colouring them with fabric dyes. It might seem intimidating at first but once you've gained control, it can be very therapeutic as described by most first timers in our previous workshops.

To assure you a chilled creative evening, only 5 spots are available for each session. You can relax, enjoy your cocktail/wine and the pub playlist while unleashing your inner artist. The Urban Fox is a very cosy and chic venue with great atmosphere.

No experience is necessary - just bring your enthusiasm and we'll provide all the materials you need. Drinks and beverages are not included in the fee and sold at the bar. Payment in advance is needed to secure your spot. Any cancellation that takes place within the 5 days before the event won't be refunded.

You must be at least 18 to join this 2-hour event as you'll work with melted hot wax and the minimum age limit set by the venue. Due to the absence of lift and the location of the washrooms in the building, it's unfortunately inaccessible for people on wheelchair or limited movement ability. Well behaved pets are allowed in the space but we'd like to be informed in advance.

Hello everyone,

I'm Zariq (she/her), an artist-illustrator originally from Malaysia and based in Cheltenham. I'm also one of the artists in residence at The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum this year. Other than organising Batik workshops under my own brand, Batikshire, I also deliver wellbeing Batik workshops for Honour Thy Woman Group, a Gloucestershire based charity group for Domestic Abuse victims and survivors. I have Enhanced DBS check.
