About this Event
Bathing Water Conference
Join Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) for the first Bathing Water Conference, a must-attend event for communities and individuals who want to know more about applying for bathing water designation with a focus on inland waterways. The event will also be suitable for communities that have already submitted an application and are looking for some practical next steps. This in-person conference will take place on Saturday 11 November 2023 at Watershed, 1 Canon's Road, Bristol, BS1 5TX.
Officially designated Bathing Waters are the only blue spaces where water quality is regularly monitored for its effect on human health, and legal obligations are put on polluting industries to clean up their act. In the UK there are currently only 3 stretches of river that have been designated as bathing waters, and amazingly, all of these have been won through local campaigns by individuals like yourself.
Through this conference SAS will equip you with how to establish a campaign in your community, how Citizen Science can bolster your campaign and how you can create change at both a local and national level.
Engage in insightful discussions, gain valuable knowledge, and network with like-minded individuals and organisations who share your passion for improving water quality in rivers and lakes.
The conference is an opportunity to expand your understanding of bathing water's and how they are a mechanism to shine a light on water quality. Register now to secure your place and make a positive impact on the future of our waterways!
The venue opens at 9:30am to allow for arrival of attendees, the conference starts at 10am.
A full schedule of the days workshops, seminars and panels will follow shortly.
