Meet with Batsoc at 5.45pm at Cairns library grounds for a bat talk then a bat walk using bat detectors to find bats. The walk will start at 6pm.
Discover the bats of Cairns and find out why bats are superheroes. The Wet Tropics region is home to half of Australia’s bat species. How many hang out around Cairns?
We will meet at 5.45 pm at the big fig tree at Cairns Library Grounds, corner Aplin and Lake St for a bat chat.
We will introduce you to the big bats and little bats around Cairns , then head off for a bat walk along the Esplanade looking out for foraging flying-foxes and detecting using special bat detectors small echo-locating insectivorous bats. Participants will get a chance to use the bat detectors.
